During Tropical Storm Irene, the swelling of the North River washed out an existing, privately owned dam in Colrain, MA. This dam regulated water levels in a canal that provides water to a manufacturing plant along Route 112 in Colrain. This private owner hired E.T.& L. Corp. to perform emergency work authorized by the DEP, ACOE, and FEMA to repair the damaged spillway and construct a temporary dam to control water levels in the canal. The bridge on Route 112 crossing the Griswoldville Canal in Colrain, MA has been in need of repair for many years. MassDOT awarded E.T.& L.
